Goddess of Babylon

Goddess - Indigo

Posted: Mar 09 2016

Singer, songwriter, poet, dreamer... the infectious energy that surrounds Indigo Sparke drew us in at first glance. Embodying the earthy, natural, raw and powerful 'Goddess' and like something out of a Babylonian dream, Indigo wore our Summer collection in the hinterland of Byron Bay, showcasing her natural beauty and then sharing the thoughts that web her wonderful dreams..

NAME Indigo Scarlet Sparke

YOU ARE I am. Gracefully Wild. Messy in Love. Remembering my strength. Standing in my vulnerability. Melting my fears. Forever learning patience. A singer, a dancer, an artist, an alchemist, a writer, a talker, a lover, a daughter, a friend, a sister...

PASSIONATE ABOUT So much! I'm passionate about wading through and examining the dark, the shadow, the pain, the cracks and fractures, and delighting in the light, the bright, the joy and laughter - and then letting both extremes consume me until it's unclear what's what... then I create from that place.

WHAT MAKES YOU INSPIRED The human condition and the thresholds we have grown to embody as a race. It breaks me, in the best way.

Nature. When I'm swallowed by it. When I'm on the road, driving through it. The sheer magnitude of it. I like feeling humbled by its majesty. It scares me sometimes.

The ocean inspires me a lot. It's an endless metaphor for life I think.

Raw truth and honesty inspires me beyond measure. It makes my soul vibrate.

WHAT MAKES YOU FEARFUL Death. I oscillate between understanding that our soul never dies and having peace with my physical body deteriorating, and not understanding it at all and completely fearing a lack of consciousness when I pass on.

Losing loved ones.

Not having clear communication and honesty.

Letting my friends and family down.

LETTING FEAR RULE MY LIFE! I won't :-)

WHAT KEEPS YOUR FIRES BURING LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE PAIN SORROW JOY BEAUTY LOVE LOVE LOVE FEAR LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that's pretty much it.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO TAP INTO YOUR FEMININITY? Dance. Wildly. Unapologetically. Letting myself completely unravel.

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE A GODDESS? Being in nature... And my friends. I have INCREDIBLE friends. I'm so lucky to have the women that I do in my life. They are a wellspring of love and intelligence and beauty and strength and kindness and being around them makes me feel like a goddess.

WHAT DOES THE WORD GODDESS MEAN TO YOU? All of the above. I think to be so unapologetically who you are in all your deep radiance is to be a goddess. To be unshakeable. To hold onto your strength and your truth with kindness and compassion and intuition and the ancient wisdom we all carry, is to be a goddess.

IF YOU COULD TELL YOUR YOUNGER SELF… I love you and I'm proud of you.

 A MESSAGE FOR WOMEN EVERYWHERE…

"I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories... water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom."

Clarissa Pinkola EstésWomen Who Run With the Wolves

THE MOMENTS THAT DEFINED YOU..

The moments of love, connection, acceptance, rejection, pain and joy.

YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE.. To create and love without limitation, starting with myself.

THE MANTRAS YOU LIVE BY…

Well, 'Be Here Now' is a nice simple one.

But for a beautiful poetic lengthy mantra on life and everything in between I find myself returning over and over again to The Prophet by Khalil Gibran. It's a poignant reflection.

... On Prayer

 Kahlil Gibran

You pray in your distress and in your need; would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance.

For what is prayer but the expansion of yourself into the living ether?

And if it is for your comfort to pour your darkness into space, it is also for your delight to pour forth the dawning of your heart.

And if you cannot but weep when your soul summons you to prayer, she should spur you again and yet again, though weeping, until you shall come laughing.

When you pray you rise to meet in the air those who are praying at that very hour, and whom save in prayer you may not meet.

Therefore let your visit to that temple invisible be for naught but ecstasy and sweet communion.

For if you should enter the temple for no other purpose than asking you shall not receive:

And if you should enter into it to humble yourself you shall not be lifted:

Or even if you should enter into it to beg for the good of others you shall not be heard.

It is enough that you enter the temple invisible.
